Amidst the scorching deserts, oases are a paradise and a divine gift for travelers and the lost. We will take a trip to one of these oases in Peru and see how this oasis called Huacachina brings us the pleasure of traveling and staying in the desert.
Huacachina is a village in the southwest of the beautiful country of Peru, which hosts a large number of tourists annually. This beautiful village is built around an oasis and is a few hundred meters away from the city of Ika, about 10 minutes. The population of this village is about 100 people, but if we want to count the tourists in this area, we will face a population equal to thousands.
In the center of the village there is a natural lake which is very attractive for visitors. Today, in order for the lake water to always be fresh and abundant, water is pumped into it from the city. It is safe to say that nothing can be seen around this oasis except sand and hills, and only near the lake, there are a lot of palm and tropical trees. These trees make the air around the oasis cooler and more pleasant. In some low-lying areas, closer to the oasis, small cacti can be seen. Some believe that the presence of this vegetation at different times of the year and during storms can protect the lake and the village.
In this area, most reptiles such as snakes, small and large lizards can be seen. Near the oasis, desert sparrows nest in the trees, and their voices are often heard in the surrounding area. Today, these animals are given special care so that the species are not endangered.
In this region of Peru, the temperature is high during the day and low at night, and there is a large temperature difference. The weather is hot and dry, and warm winds blow in the afternoon and evening. If you travel to this oasis, bring warm clothes for the night. Sandstorms sometimes sweep across the desert too, completely changing the face of the desert.
It was in 1940 that the name of this oasis became famous. At first, rich people came to this area to bathe and use this natural attraction, and over time, the construction of luxury hotels began. In 1950, for some reason, the area was abandoned and no one used it anymore. In the 90’s, someone started some projects in this region and by establishing facilities such as bugs, hotels … he revived this oasis and made it one of the tourist attractions of Peru.

In this desert and in this region, there are many entertainments that you will create happy memories for yourself by doing them. When tourists come to this place, they can do a lot of interesting activities such as sand skiing, buggy riding, swimming in the lake and staying in beautiful hotels.
Ski in all seasons, slide on the warm sands and experience the excitement. Come down the dunes with your friends to be caressed by the warm wind. You can buy or rent special skis in the village. Go skiing in the afternoon because the temperature is much better. Ride the buggy and go from hill to hill. We have to say that you cannot drive yourself. Walk on the hills at sunset and enjoy the surrounding scenery. There is a beautiful view in front of your eyes at sunset. The yellow and orange light that goes under the hills is amazing. You feel calm as if you are falling asleep.
When the desert is calm and silence is everywhere, it is best to watch the sun.
In the morning, the best choice is to take a short walk in the beautiful desert. Pick up your backpack, put on the right shoes and head for the desert. In this adventure, you will enjoy the surrounding scenery and sand dunes and you will see how the sun has warmed the sand. Be careful not to get lost and have a road map with you. Take plenty of water and food with you and do not forget to return to the village before dark. If you are interested in photography, you will capture beautiful images.
If it is night and it is dark everywhere, when you enter the desert, you will not hear any sound except the wind hitting the sand. From time to time you feel lost and it is not unlikely that this will happen. Going to the desert at night is dangerous and you may be bitten by a snake or scorpion. If you dare to do this, do not be alone and go to the desert in a group. It has a special pleasure to go up and down the hill at night and in the dark.
If you like swimming, do not miss the lake of this oasis and swim in cool water in hot weather to feel great. The sun caresses you with its own hands, gives you warmth and water cools you. You can also sunbathe by the lake or experience the pleasure of boating.
