Forget all the beautiful beaches you have seen so far, because today we are going to travel to a dream place. A special and unique beach that you will see your image by stepping on its rocks and you will be amazed so much by its unique beauty that these beautiful and extraordinary images will not be erased from your mind for a long time. This very exciting attraction called “California Glass Beach” is located in the United States.
This magnificent beach is located on the beaches of Mendocino in Fort Bragg, California, 120 miles north of San Francisco, and in McCreacher Beach National Park. Fort Bragg, California has a beach that has become a dazzling attraction today. This beach, which is made of waste such as glass and plastic, has been turned into a glass beach instead of a sandy beach. It is enough to remove some of these glasses, then we will see our face in clear glasses. These pieces of glass combined with scallops and snails have created a unique image. The glass is very compatible with the clear water of this beach. This beach, which has the highest concentration of glass, is the only place in the world that has become a spectacular attraction due to a wrong thing, that is leaving garbage in the environment.
In 1943, about two centuries ago, this beautiful beach was a dumping ground for the people of Fort Bragg. Regardless of the environment, they dumped their waste, which consisted mostly of soda cans and plastic bottles, into the ocean. Days passed and the garbage piled up more and more, until the people of Fort Bragg opened their eyes and saw that the whole beach was full of garbage. In 1960, due to the high volume of garbage and the critical situation, the dumping of any garbage into the beach was banned, but this did not work and California officials were forced to clear the beach of garbage and as the result, the decision was made to prevent anyone from entering the beach.
Years passed and the garbage settled by the ocean but was not added to it and after many years, the sea wave took the garbage with it from the shore and only the small pieces of glass that were polished and transparent due to the waves stayed on the beach, and the people of the area suddenly noticed a dramatic and spectacular change, which was a very spectacular glow of the beach. This beauty provoked a reaction from everyone, and the natives called this area a depressed sea, tears flowing from its eyes due to the suffering of garbage, and the small clear pieces were the same as the tears of the sea. This glass beach, which was not noticed by anyone one day, became a famous tourist area in 2019. The privately owned part of the beach was purchased by the government and cleaned up. It then came under the control of California National Park and officially became a popular recreation area.
It didn’t take long for amazing images of the area to spread around the world, and many people set foot in California to see these amazing images. Seeing these pictures, each person narrated a legend. Some believed that in the distant past, a ship full of glass sank in this sea and the remnants of the rain made this beach bright and beautiful. Others believed that the transparent pieces were the tears of mermaids shed to drown a sailor. But all this was nothing more than a myth, and the only reason for the creation of this amazing beach was the glass rubbish of the people of Fort Bragg.
You may be wondering, is it possible for shards of glass to turn into sand? We have to say yes, due to the high pH of the salty ocean water, the shards of glass have softened over time and polished with seawater and turned into glass sand, and if the ocean water was sweet, the glass sand would never exist and there was still bad garbage off the coast of California.
So far, we are familiar with the reason why glass has become sand, but the amazing features of this beach are not complete, another of which is the presence of glass sand in pink, blue, blue and red colors. The reason for this colorfulness may have been the glass that was spilled on the beach or due to the reaction with water minerals such as magnesium and selenium, which has given this beautiful beach to everyone.
We have to say that, unlike the dark days of the beach, which people did not like, today this area is one of the favorite fortunes of the people of Fort Bragg and they do not allow you to pick up colored glass on the beach. The police in this area have also imposed heavy laws and fines on the violators.
Glass is increasing day by day. Every day, the generous ocean turns another amount of garbage into sand and delivers it to this dream beach.
Does the glass beach contain toxic and dangerous substances? We have to say no, because the ocean water has cleaned the beach from any toxic and dirty substances, and it has given a bright and garbage-free beach as a gift, and you can walk for hours in this dreamy place and invite your eyes to the feast of color and light and have a unique experience in your life.
