Pahneh Hesar is the name of a mountain range and peak in the northwest of Tehran, the capital of Iran, along Chalous Road (between Sulqan Road and Chalous Road) in Alborz Province. This mountain range leads from the north to Shahrestanak, from the west to Khor village and Chalous road, from the east to Sangan village and Sulqan road and from the south to Wardavard region. Sangan is a village in a mountainous and very beautiful area in the northwest of Tehran and a little higher than Solghan. At the beginning of the entrance of the village, there is an Imamzadeh named Aqeel, which is a place for climbers to rest and prepare. Before reaching the village, a road has been established and built that, like many villages and mountains of Iran, this road has reduced the natural and environmental attractions of this mountain. The height of Sangan village is about 2100 meters above sea level. The beautiful Sangan waterfall with a height of approximately 60 meters is the tallest waterfall in Tehran and the height of this waterfall is 2575 meters above sea level. The best time to visit Sangan village and waterfall is spring and especially in May, when the waterfall is full of water and Sangan valley and village are covered with white and pink blossoms of cherry trees.
In the autumn of a thousand colors, Sangan valley has its own beauty and effect. But the waterfall is very low in water this season and you may not see any waterfall more than a shallow flow of water.
Before reaching Sangan waterfall, or as it was formerly called “Abdul Manaf”, there is a short climb along the way, which in turn leads to the foot of the waterfall with the help of a fixed rope.
Pahneh Hesar mountain is also called by other names such as Pahnehsar, Peshteband and Gandomchal. The highest point of this mountain is called Pahneh Hesar peak and with an altitude of 3400 meters, it is one of the highlands of Central Alborz. A river originates from the eastern slope of this mountain, which creates Sangan waterfall in its path and finally flows into the river.
The Pahneh Hesar is a peak on the height of a mountainous plain. Around this plain, there are lower peaks that are located a short distance from the main peak of the fence area, which are:
Baro – Cheshmeh Shahi and Kondar. Of course, with other names mentioned in some sources, between these peaks and at the bottom of the plain, there is an Imamzadeh called Bibi Zarrin Qamar at an altitude of about 3150 meters, the main road of which starts from Charan village, Arangeh region, Chalous Road. A room in this Amazadeh has been allocated for the use of climbers. One of the routes to climb this peak is through Sangan village. The village is located southeast of the peak. To reach this mountainous plain, which is located in the heights of northwestern Tehran, you can also climb the villages located in the east, south and west of the peak of the Pahneh Hesar.
The most important routes to climb the summit of Pahneh Hesar:
– Northeast front, from Imamzadeh Davood road and Sangan village
– South front, from Chalous road and Varish village
– Western front, from Chalous road and Khor village
– Western front, from Chalous road and Charan village
– Southwest front, from Chalous road and Kondar village
Sangan route is the best way to climb the fence area, both in terms of beauty and in terms of technology and the attractiveness of mountaineering.
Peak view:
To the east, the peaks of Bazarak, Lavark, Doshakh and Bandeish
Northeast direction, view of Azadkooh
Northwest, Shah Dej Peak
And the north, the peaks of Naaz and Kahar
To reach it, you can enter the mountainous road from Tehran-Karaj (Wardavard) highway, and after a winding road and passing through the village of Vardij, you can reach this beautiful and mountainous village. From the north of Varish village, a mountainous and dirt road is stretched for about 3 km and reaches a place from where the way for ascent of the peak is clear. It should be noted that a very suitable clean road has been stretched from the village to the first peak, which in the past was called “Baro”. This clean path continues along the ridge leading to the peak, then enters a narrow valley where a metal ladder is installed, after which we reach the slopes of the summit ridge.
