Baths throughout history in the cities of spectacular Iran are one of the most important monuments of the past. But perhaps it can be claimed that one of the most famous historical baths, which has been called a masterpiece of Safavid architecture and has witnessed one of the most serious events in history, is the Fin bath in the charming city of Kashan.
This historical monument, along with all the importance in terms of architectural style and decorations used in the corners of the building, is the place where Amir Kabir, the great man in the history of Iran, was assassinated. All these features have been put together and have caused the historic Fin Bath in Kashan to be selected as one of the most attractive historical monuments and to attract a large number of tasteful tourists every year.
The date of construction of this building dates back to the Safavid period. The construction of this place continued until the period of Shah Abbas II and reached its peak. The entrance, the Safavid pavilion and one of the garden baths were built during this period. The area of Fin Garden is about 23,000 square meters, which includes a central courtyard that is centered by walls and cylindrical towers.
Fin Garden and Fin Bath of Kashan is located 6 km south of Kashan city at the end of the current Amir Kabir Street and the old small Fin village and is one of the most valuable historical monuments of Kashan. The remnant of the garden is from the Safavid period, which was built on the buildings of the Dailami period and is of special importance in terms of landscaping and water supply. Kashan Fin Bath, located in Fin Garden, is the historic site where Nasser al-Din Shah ordered to assassinate his prime minister, Amir Kabir, in 1852.
The building of Fin Bath was registered in the list of national monuments of Iran on December 6, 1963, number 238. After several years of effort, UNESCO inscribed the Fin Garden, which also includes the Fin Bath, on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2011.
It may be interesting to know that there are two baths in the large and pleasant Fin Garden of Kashan. And, of course, the interesting thing is that the name of neither of these two baths was originally Fin. What has caused a world-famous historical monument called Kashan Fin Bath to be remembered is the location of these two baths in the heart of this vast garden.
The small bath of Fin Garden was built during the Safavid period and at the same time as the construction of the original garden building This bath was built for the use of garden servants. One of the important parts of this bathroom is the existence of 7 old tiles in the treasury that are 500 years old. This bath was open to the public on some days of the week and was used. This bath is famous for its important historical events. The small bath of Fin garden was the place where Mirza Taghi Khan Farahani, known as Amir Kabir, was killed. Fin’s garden and its bath were forgotten after the incident, and during the constitutional period, all the garden’s precious materials were stolen by miscreants.
The Grand Bath or Royal Bath was used for the royal family. This bath was built during the Qajar period and by order of the Qajar King. Since this bath was built for the use of court elders, it was also highly regarded in terms of architecture. Marble columns and painted ceilings are an example of the beautiful architecture of this bathroom. The large bathroom has two changing rooms.
In 1344 AH, these two baths were renovated according to their original design and after that they were repaired and renovated many times.
